Dose Patriotism Still Matter?

Throughout the years people have started to care less and less about patriotism. In my mind I still think it is important to have patriotism because you have to think of what your life would be like if we never had patriotism. Would you have your freedom? Would you have the right to go to school?, or would you even have a family that wasn't thrown in jail?
By showing patriotism you show that you appreciate how lucky you have been to have lived in a country like America. A country that is free and wealthy with many opportunities for your life. Everyday there are people who are risking their lives so that our country can be the best country it be can be and although their jobs are dangerous and frightening they know that they are doing the right thing. It doesn't take much to be patriotic. Weather you acknowledge a soldier or even just think about the words that you are reciting when you say the pledge of allegiance, every action makes a difference.
Although it may seem to be a slight waste of time to some people, when you are thanking the people that have been away from their families for months worrying, staying up late nights hearing gunfire in the distance wondering weather they are going to wake up the next morning, I don't think it is a waste of time. So go out there and take the time to make a soldiers day and thank them for what they have done. It doesn't take much and in the end the reward of making someone feel good is worth the action you make.
