Story about the Last days of Lehman Brothers.
A great movie to watch and a realistic story to follow is the movie, The Last Days Of Lehman Brothers. The last days of Lehman Brothers is a story about the bank Lehman Brothers, a bank that has been a bank for over one hundred years including lasting through the great depression that filed for bankruptcy when the 2008 recession hit. The Lehman Brothers is not like any other bank in the fact that they do not take the publics money to invest. They provide money to other U.S. banks as loans if they are in a time of need and then once the banks get into better times the banks give the money back to Lehman Brothers so they can help out yet another bank.
As the bank sent out more and more loans to keep banks like Chase, and Bank of America from going bankrupt, bankruptcy was a threat to Lehman Brothers themselves. The last weeks of the banks rich history had a huge affect on how the recession was ridded out. After the bank had failed for bankruptcy there was a movie directed shortly afterwards to describe the great story.
The movie starts out with the troubles starting in 2008, when the Dow Jones Industrial Average (an average of how the economy in general is doing) fell to less than half of what it was the year before. When people started loosing there jobs they began to take there money out of there banks which lead more and more banks to seek help from Lehman Brothers. Lehman Brothers had a huge decision to make. If they were to bail out the other banks they may get bankrupt in which would state that if any other banks went under from there on there would be no one to help them. If they didn't bail out the banks then banks such as Chase would loose all the Americans accounts and many people around the country would have no money left. In the banks last days the ceo's began to slowly bail out each major bank giving them just enough money for each bank to survive hoping that they would still have enough left over for themselves. Sadly after a week of bailing out many of Americas greatest banks there was no money left at Lehman Brothers.
Since 2008 the Dow has regained about half of what it lost in 2008 and it has implied that all the banks will have survived. It turned out that Lehman had made the right decision to bail out the banks but many people are still saddened that the bank had to go after so many years. That just goes to show you that sometimes you have to make a sacrifice for something that is right and that is exactly what the Lehman Brothers ceo's did in The Last Days Of Lehman Brothers.
