The time I met the Senator essay +

One of the coolest things that I think I have ever done I did in 6th grade when I went to the Wisconsin capitol to meet Senator Fitzgerald. I got the opportunity to meet the Senator because my uncle has been a campaign manager for many previous Wisconsin Governors and Senators. When I ran for student council president in the beginning of the year in 6th grade I had given my uncle some letters to give to various politicians that he knew to see if any of them would write me back and support me in my campaign. I received many letters back but one letter in particular from Senator Fitzgerald was by far the most interesting. In his letter he invited me to meet him at the capitol!
The day I went to the capitol it was a warm and sunny day in April, the perfect day for the big event. There was a sandwich place that we stopped at around ten o clock before our 11:30 appointment and as soon as we finished we started trekking down towards the Capitol. By far the funniest part of the trip was walking towards the Senators offices because there was a class field trip tour going on outside the office doors and the tour guides kept telling the kids, who were about my age not to go through the doors just as I went through them. When we arrived at Senator Fitzgerald's office we opened the door to this huge, huge office. There was a reception desk and bookshelf's as you first walk in and if you go through another set of doors within the office there are chairs and then finally the Senators desk.
As I walked in I shook Mr. Fitzgerald's hand and proudly sat in one of the chairs near his desk. We began discussing many political issues and personal stories that each of us had witch was a very cool thing to do. After our discussion Mr. Fitzgerald and myself took a trip down to the senators meeting hall, and I even got to take pictures of Mr. Fitzgerald and myself sitting in the senate seats together.
When it was finally time for him to leave he gave me his pen and bid me good writtens and I left the Capitol with memories that I never get tired of talking about.
