The Tragedy That Almost Was

When thinking of what I was going to write about for my personal narrative this morning I decided that instead of talking about an event that improved my life I would rather talk about something that I did that helped the life of someone else. This story is a story that still sometimes gets me shaken as to what would have happened had I not acted fast enough but on the other hand when I think of what may have gone wrong I always just reassure my self that it all turned out ok.
The story takes place on a nice Summer day in my back yard. I look out the window and see that my neighbors are having a family party. I make a small walk over to their house to check out what is going on. When I get there I see that my neighbors grandchild who is cutter every time I see him is just beginning to walk and is running all over the place. I talk to the neighbors and they tell me all of his stories about his very first steps. As I go back into my yard I see my Dad with the Frisbee and he says ''you wanna play some catch'' Being it was such a nice day and I had nothing else to do I started to play catch. After a while my Dad decides to throw one over my head to see if I can catch it. Not looking where I was going I ran full speed ahead at the Frisbee. As I briefly look down I notice that the neighbors baby is slowly walking towards me. I being 12 years old and him having taken his first steps just weeks ago I had to think fast. Just as I am about to ram into him I stop dead in my tracks about as fast as I ever have before. I myself fell over and got a few scares but as I looked back I saw that the baby was alright.
Every once and a while I think about that day. I wonder what the baby has done since then and I wonder what awful things could have happened had I not stopped on a dime as good as the road runner from the road runner commercials. The important thing is to not think about what could have happened but that as I said before to just tell myself that everything was alright and when I see the child running through my neighbors yard every once and a while I can again assure myself that no harm has been done and everything is going to be ok.

  2. It was good but I am curious to why did you start with talking about the narrative. It didn't really play along.

  3. I will have to agree with Austin's comment. It sticks out as though it was a sore thumb.
