Reflection

Throughout my two years at Asa Clark there have been many things that I have learned in language arts. Before I started my Junior High years there were two things that I have learned to do particularly well because of my experiences at Asa. In 7th grade one thing that I did not know how to do correctly was to format a literary analysis without using a summery, yet when I was taught that other things could be looked at such as symbolism , modes of literature and lessons to be learned. After learning that my essays frequently scored high because of the help of Mrs. Mundt. 8th grade language arts was a little different than in Mrs. Mundts class. In there I learned that not all language classes need to be the same. In Mrs. Reagles class I learned how to set up conferences and how to score pieces and learn a new and more personalized way to have a class in which I really found to enjoy. Each year I learn new and important things under the instruction of numerous great teachers in the Pewaukee Schools but as I walk away from my two years at Asa this time I really know that my two years could not have been done better and that there is not a single thing I would have changed.

Response To ‘’The Hundredth Dove’’
Each and every one of us has had a moment in our lives where we have looked at something or someone and said to ourselves I want to be able to do that or be like them. Throughout the years of our lives many people begin to forget about their goals and things that they have wanted to do or see as a child but after reading the story ''The Hundredth Dove'' I think that you will again be reminded of whatever dream you may have and remember to never let your dreams escape you.
The story ''The Hundredth Dove'' starts with a man named Hugh whose job was to catch 100 doves that would be displayed at the king and queens great wedding feast. He first set out for his mission shortly after he had been told to catch the doves by both the king and queen themselves, the queen in whom Hugh had very much fallen in love with after looking at her beautiful black eyes and glimmering gold ring. Hugh was given 6 days to catch the 100 doves. On the first day he caught 20 nice blue doves and one beautiful white dove that had beautiful black eyes and a glimmering gold ring as did the queen. When seeing the dove Hugh was reminded of the queen and was very excited to catch the dove for the wedding yet when he got to the net the dove had escaped. Each day for four days Hugh would catch 20 blue doves and the one white dove yet every day the white dove would escape. On the fifth day much to Hugh's surprise there were only 19 doves in his net making him one short of one hundred. All the doves had been caught except the great white dove. Hugh knowing there were no more doves knew he must catch the last dove on the sixth day. On the last day when Hugh walked to his net he saw that the white bird was inside. While picking up the bird the bird pleaded with Hugh to let her go. At that moment Hugh realized that the dove in a way was the queen herself. While staring into the birds black eyes all this time he was really staring into the eyes of the queen that he also had been trying to catch in the last six days. Hugh then knew that if he were to kill the bird he would also kill his chances with the queen, yet knowing he needed the last dove, Hugh killed the bird. When Hugh arrived back at the palace the wedding had been called off and Hugh was never able to see either one of this two beautiful black eyed loves.
There is a great lesson to be learned after reading this story. When Hugh became so focused on his jobs in life he never took the time to realize that the queen is the real hundredth dove he had been looking for. So many times I look out and see people who talked about as kids of how they wanted to be president or a professional baseball player or whatever it may be and although they may have a satisfying life they still sometimes regret not pursuing the real things they wanted. The way I think of it is that each person only has one life. There is no written rule book of how you should live your life and every single person has their own different opinion as to how they would want their life to be like. Even if you pursue your dream and find that you were not as successful as you may have liked you will at least know that you tried your best and now have the knowledge that your dream may not be the best option for you to continue on with, were as if you do not pursue your dream you will always wonder what had happened if you had.
After Hugh found out that the wedding had been called off he decided to go off and live in the woods. Hugh never saw a dove again which symbolized that he never saw an opportunity to make his dream of being with the queen come true again. If you let an opportunity pass by you may never see your opportunity come back. So my advice would be to go out in the forest of life and find your own white dove and make sure to never let it pass you by.

Yale Dog Story Analysis

Thursday, March 24, 2011
10:47 AM

Through my life I have always been a person that is up to date with his news stories. Being I have been lucky enough to meet so many politicians through the years that is probably expected of me yet, even before then I have always enjoyed browsing through online newspapers reading about whatever may be going on in the world. Three days ago Mr. Cattorazlee had an assignment for us to go to a newspaper website and find a news story to read and share to the class. At resource that same day I came across an article about dog therapy. I who likes both dogs and news decided to take a look.
The article had talked about how The Yale Bulldogs had gotten a bulldog and have been passing the dog around to comfort anyone attending Yale law school who is stressed. Any Yale law student that is stressed can sign the dog our for a 30 minute session for relaxation and comfort at any time they want. The dog is hypoallergenic and is said to be very playful and energetic. People who have used the dog say that it really helps them relax. After hearing of the schools success many other schools around the country are considering getting an anti stress dog.
In my opinion I think it is a great idea to have a dog to comfort students that may be stressed. There is something about cuddling a dog that just makes you feel like everything is going to be ok. Only time will tell if other schools will begin to receive anti-stress dogs but I sure hope that the trend will continue. I think that it surely would be a great improvement to any type of school.

13th Birthday

The best birthday party that I have ever had was my 13th birthday party. After multiple days of begging I was able to convince my parents to get a limo to drive my friends and I to go mini golfing. As the party started sure enough on my driveway stood a limo that was basically the size of my driveway looking at me as if it was saying '' no I'm not a hallucination''. A real fancy dude named Pete walked out tipped his cap and opened the doors for us. After stating ''thank you my good man'' I got into the limo, sipped my sprite and put my feet up on the ledge. It was a mighty fine 20 minute drive to the golfing place and the golfing was very exciting and competitive being the winner got the first piece of cake at the house. Afterwards Pete opened back up our doors, rode us to school where summer school was just getting out, let us wave and laugh at a few kids and later drove us home. When arriving at the house we gave Pete his money, shoved our faces with cake and pizza and called it a night. It was surly a day to remember.

Moon Personification

Friday, March 18, 2011
10:09 AM

Every night the moon comes out. It like unlike people is powerless in the day yet at night it runs across the horizon full speed ahead to catch up and take the place of the sun after its long day of work. In a way the moon seams to be peacefully watching as the darkness arrives and all the people fall asleep. The moon is quiet and relaxed unlike the sun that is active and energetic. The moon shines his small white light on what little patch of land that is not yet covered with the darkness as if to say that he is still there to protect his people from any danger from the darkness of the night and that very actions assures that the world is safe to rest.

Let's get ready to rumble

In our country if you ask pretty much anyone that you know they will tell you that they have at least one messed up neighbor. As for myself those neighbors would be the Coursins. The coursins live 3 houses down from mine and they have 4 lovely kids. There is Andrew the wild one, Eric the other wild one, Evan the even wilder one and Emma the insane one.
Every single school day Emma and the rest of the Coursin clan come stumbling down to the bus stop roaring full speed ahead waiting to have the rest of the small children at the bus stop feel the wrath of their furry. The coursins rang from kindergarten to 6th grade and because they are on the early bus I can only watch their fights on days that I am home sick in which I do video record their ordeals via iphone and color commentary by yours truly.
Recently just a few weeks ago I had a doctors appointment in the morning that allowed me to tape the most recent footage of the Courins conundrums. Just as I had expected at about 7:55 pm. central time the Coursins begin to excite the house. As the children got about half way down the street Eric realizes that he had forgotten his backpack at home again for the second time out of the two times I have taped the bus stops. As he returned with his backpack the coursins and him had realized that Selina another neighbor was playing nicely in the snow drawing a picture in the snow with a piece of ice. I don't know what the Coursins were thinking but it was probably something along the lines of we should change that. All of the sudden the little Coursins begin throwing snowballs at Selina so they can get the ice stick. Selina then gives in and gives Evan the ice and he slams Eric in the stomach with the stick so hard the ice shattered into pieces like an atomic explosion. I look over and Eric is on the street crying in pain. Now at this point I am still taping this through the window of my house and I am wondering if I should maybe go down and help but before I do anything I notice that Emma is running down the street and is probably going to help him. Oh contrar, instead of helping him get up I see before my very eyes Emma roar back and kick him in the stomach where he had just been hit with the stick. I'm thinking woman are you crazy or something. Eric in pure defense gets up to avoid yet another kick and once he started walking around he was fine but the fact of me just watching this and even getting it all on tape just amazed me.
Everyone at some point has to spend time with a person that they dislike but the next time you may be disappointed about who you have to be around you can at least be lucky you are not going to be with the coursins. This essay is brought to you by The Coursin Conundrum iphone series with you producer, cameraman, announcer and editor Mr. Danny Ketterman. We thank you for listening and for more excitement contact Danny for the tapes of the Coursin bus stops.
